Colusa County Behavioral Health Department is seeking Behavioral Health Therapists to treat mental illness and substance use disorders in a collaborative team-oriented environment.

DEFINITION:

Under general direction, to provide a variety of mental health services for individuals, families, and groups, including assessments, diagnoses, prognoses, counseling, and psychotherapeutic treatment for Department clients; to assist with education and training for other staff, community agencies, and the public; to serve in "crisis intervention" situations and respond to emergencies and hospitalizations; and to do related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Behavioral Health Therapist I

Experience:

Required practicum experience in a master's program.

Training:

A master's degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university which provides the educational basis for licensing to provide psychotherapy in the State of California.

Licensing or Certifications:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

Possession of or applied for registration as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern or an Associate of Clinical Social Work with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Behavioral Health Therapist II

Experience:

Two (2) years of post-graduate of increasingly responsible related experience

Training:

A master's degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university which provides the educational basis for licensing to provide psychotherapy in the State of California.

Licensing and Certifications:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

Current registration as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various County and meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Although this is primarily a sedentary office classification requiring standing in work areas and walking between work areas, the position may also require some fieldwork. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, up to 30 pounds, as necessary to perform job functions. Negative PPD test (pre-employment and annual testing). Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, dust and scents, and potential exposure to hazardous physical substances. Tasks may require exposure to illness/disease, work related stress and hostile clients. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
