Primary Duties Under general supervision, this position provides general office support and customer service in the Student Financial Services (SFIN) department which includes providing students, parents, faculty, and staff information regarding registration, housing and course fees, financial aid and disbursement, refunds, parking decal sales, payment plans. This position primarily is responsible for accurately receiving and disbursing university funds and recording financial transactions. Communicating and assisting students on all matters concerning their student account including payment deadlines and financial aid disbursements. Regularly coordinate with Payroll Office regarding payroll release, questions with checks/DDAs, warrant holds, returning warrants to SCO, salary advances, garnishments and payroll A/Rs. Preparing and distributing monthly main faculty and staff payroll.

Incumbent must possess:
• General knowledge of financial record-keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures and practices.

Incumbent must have the ability to:
• Review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards.
• Compute and post numbers rapidly and accurately.
• Maintain files and records.
• Identify, trace, and correct errors.
• Follow directions.
• Interpret and apply written rules and regulations.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Exercise tact, courtesy, alertness, and good judgment in responding to others.
• Use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems, such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid.
• Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Education and/or Experience Incumbent must have equivalent to one year of clerical accounting or financial record-keeping experience; or any combination of education and experience which has provided the listed knowledge and abilities.

Recruitment Preferences Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
• Knowledge of basic principles, methods, and practices of accounting, cash handling, and financial record keeping.
• Ability to operate a 10-key calculator with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
• Beginner knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel and Word.
• Bilingual

Benefit Information CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
