Under the specific direction of the Associate Dean of the College of ECC and in support of the University's focus on student success, retention, and graduation, this position provides leadership and oversight of the ECC Student Success Center, including oversight of all of its components, with the purpose to deliver a student-centered advising and support system. The Director performs a variety of complex and/or sensitive professional student service work, including but not limited to, providing professional student service work for academic advising, retention, and program assessment. This position will also have budgetary responsibility for the functions listed and will be expected to compile reports and analyze data in conjunction with the Associate Dean to determine targeted strategies for student success. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the College of ECC Student Success Center, which includes advising, tutoring, and professional development activities for students within the College, with oversight of the Directors of funded programs such as the MESA Program and the STEM Connections Collaborative. This position requires considerable administrative planning to develop creative solutions that integrate best practices across organizational lines. This position is also responsible for recognizing specific program needs and for collaborating with academic departments to implement solutions to enhance student engagement and success. The incumbent will utilize a combination of high-level analytic and interpersonal skills to work on complex problems. The purpose of this work is to assist students with their academic needs in order to improve the success, retention, and graduation rates of the College.
The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be fully immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Prior administrative experience including management of fiscal resources, personnel resources, and software applications.
- Prior experience in budget development, implementation, and oversight.
- Prior experience in advising college students.
- Prior experience with student outreach and retention efforts.
- Prior experience in developing and evaluating programs, particularly related to student success.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CSU, Chico's policies and procedures for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.
Required Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related filed, plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques (including interviewing and conflict resolution when job related).
The equivalent to three years of full-time experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
- A masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. Additional specialized experience which demonstrates successful application of the required knowledge and abilities may also be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis.

Pay Plan: 12/12
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00-5:30.
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. (Anticipated hiring salary not to exceed: $80,000 per year).

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
