Job Description and Duties

The Registry of Charitable Trusts (Registry) is responsible for identifying, registering, collecting, and maintaining public records for California charities, non-profit organizations, and their fundraisers. We are looking for highly motivated and hard-working Staff Services Analysts (SSA) to perform a range of average technical and analytical duties. At this time, we have several openings in various programs that conduct operations related to the mission of the Registry. These programs may include:

Registration: Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) will perform a range of average technical and analytical duties, including, but not limited to, providing consultative services, analytical support, advice, and problem resolution to management regarding Registration and Compliance matters. The SSA gathers, analyzes, maintains general information, researches, and makes recommendations to management relating to the legislatively-mandated Registration Program. Duties require considerable creative initiative and the ability to perform independent research and analysis. The incumbent acts as a subject matter resource on registration, compliance, and delinquency functions, and may assist in the development of goals and statistics for the Registration and Compliance program. The incumbent may serve as a lead person to office technicians and seasonal/student staff in the Registration Program, and may assist other units in the Registry as needed. The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and develop positive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts is essential.

Complaints: Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) will perform a range of average technical and analytical duties, including, but not limited to, providing consultative services, analytical support, advice, and problem resolution to management. The SSA reviews complaints received regarding charitable entities and their fundraisers; independently researches, analyzes, and reports information gathered from numerous sources and databases pertaining to the complaints. The SSA will summarize complaints and refer it to the legal and audit staff. The SSA gathers, analyzes, maintains general information, researches, and makes recommendations to management relating to the legislatively-mandated Raffle and Professional Fundraising Program. Duties require considerable creative initiative and the ability to perform independent research and analysis. The incumbent acts as a subject matter resource on registration, compliance, and delinquency functions, and may assist in the development of goals and statistics. The incumbent may serve as a lead person to office technicians and seasonal/student staff in the Raffle and Professional Fundraising Program, and may assist other units in the Registry as needed. The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and develop positive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts is essential.
