Are you interested in supporting efforts to provide quality mental health care? California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS)/California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is seeking dedicated and experienced professionals, like you, to provide compassionate care to our diverse patient population.
Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting, you will:

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Assists staff in occupational, recreational, vocational, and educational therapy programs for patients.
  • Observe patients' physical condition and behavior and report significant changes.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individual treatment plans.
  • Respond to emergencies that involve the use of medical/behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Monitor and supervise patient rehabilitation and therapy activities.

You must possess a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners (BVNPTE), and have at least one year experience as a Psychiatric Technician in a California State Hospital or development Center.

Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) was implemented.
