Overview

Our Team

The Production Management department is responsible for all Production related matters, protecting and ensuring that content production across all platforms is performed to the highest industry standards, accurately representing the brand and editorial vision of the DCL's television networks. More specifically, this group ensures that content is delivered to each DCL client according to the agreed budget and schedule, following the most cost efficient and technically appropriate production path and at the same time assuring full contractual compliance.

The Role

The VP Production Management for Discovery reports to the SVP, Production Management - US Nets. The VP supervises a production management team responsible for protecting Discovery for overall aspects of the production management business.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement policies and procedures tailored for Discovery program production while at the same time ensuring that critical policies and practices remain consistent with production management practices across all DCL Networks.
  • Ensure PMD systems are appropriate for tasks performed and are continually developed, tested, implemented and maintained appropriately.
  • Manage a significant project load and maintain oversight of the projects managed by all direct reports.
  • Support SVP of PMD, in directing all aspects of production management, including but not limited to; negotiating & monitoring budgets, operations, scheduling, and departmental resources. Work with SVP to establish operational objectives, assignments and expectations for current staff.
  • Foster a culture of client-centered customer service and build and maintain extensive relationships with key external and internal clients. Develop and maintain consistent and productive communication with the DCL Network executives along with Corporate Operation counterparts.
  • Support leadership of SVP, as well as the EVP- Head of Global Content Supply Chain and continue to build a results-oriented organization.
  • Support DCL overall planning by recommending cost effective options and suggestions to meet demands, priorities and future requirements of the company's complex and dynamic needs.
  • Implement fiscally sound business practices to control the department's overhead expenses, DCL programming budgets and to protect DCL's bottom line.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in independent Production Management in film & video production, post-production, budgeting, and project management.
  • Additional experience managing production at a cable network preferred.
  • Solid track record in production from development through delivery.
  • Knowledge of production logistics, rights issues, talent negotiations and current industry standard practices.
  • Familiarity with production techniques and rights and clearances requirements for theatrical releases.
  • Proven ability to build confidence and trust with internal and external constituencies and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize resources among multiple concurrent projects.
  • Knowledge to navigate and effectively manage projects with union/guild affiliations.
  • Strong management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to interact effectively with the management team, corporate partners and members throughout the organization.
  • Relocation is not offered for this role.
